| The
IR8 provides a simple way of controlling 8 logic-level outputs
from an RS-232 data source. Jumper
selectable RS-232 signal sources insure compatibility with
both desktop and laptop PCs. Up to 16 IR8s can share a
single serial port for complete control of 128 TTL outputs.
To control it, simply send
ASCII character codes 0 to 7 to turn off each of the 8
logic-level outputs. Send ASCII codes 8 to 15 to turn
them on.
Fully compatible with the NCD
16 device network, allowing it to share a serial port with
relay controllers, LCD display controllers, and much
more.
The IR8 provides a CMOS
logic-level output and includes a resistor network for TTL
compatibility. Operates at 1200 or 9600 baud under
RS-232 control. 1200 baud maximum under infrared
control.
The IR8 was designed as a
general purpose controller for bringing TTL circuits under
computer control. The IR8 is commonly used by customers
to control all types of TTL logic from A/V multiplexors to BCD
decoders and LED numeric segment drivers.
