| The
8SC enables users to
acquire 8 bits of data from the serial port. The 8SC waits for
a command from the computer, scans the inputs, and transmits
acquired data back to the host system. Up to 16 of these
devices will coexist on a single serial port, allowing 128
bits of data to be acquired.
This device is fully RS-232
networkable with our
relay controllers, A/D
converters, video switchers, and
much more, allowing up to 16 different devices to be
controlled using simple 3-wire RS-232 communication.
Full 2-way optoisolation
protects your computer in the event of an electrical
malfunction. Jumper selectable 1200 or 9600 baud
operation makes ideal for use with most computers.
TTL/CMOS compatible Inputs (0 or +5 volts) allow simple
interface to most buttons and sensors.
Possible applications include
security motion detection systems, door monitoring, fire
detection, leakage detection, robotics, and other projects
where high/low status conditions must be monitored.
Combine this device with our ASEL
Video Switcher to automatically switch monitors to cameras
that detect motion, from a single serial port (requires
interface to motion detectors). Add our R85
Relay Controller to the network for a very powerful and
sophisticated data acquisition and control system.
