Mir-X Relays are equipped with firmware built into the board that will allow contact closure inputs to control contact closure outputs in a remote location. The Mir-X Relays are sold in pairs and each device has contact closure inputs and relays, what's different is that the contact closure inputs control the relays on the other device.  This easily allows contact closure switching in a remote location through a wireless connection.

Two Boards Working Together

Every MirX controller is equipped with contact closure inputs and outputs. The inputs on one controller activate the relays on the remote device using wireless communications. The "X" in MirX refers to the crossover. Since both devices are equipped with contact closure inputs and relays, each device targets and controls the remote device.

Wireless Range

MirC controllers use different wireless communication technologies giving them ranges of 300 Feet (Short Range), 1-Mile, 2-Mile and up to 15 Miles (Long Range). The wireless protocol will be an 802.15.4 that's FAST, easy to use, and surprisingly reliable. The 300 foot module will be the default module and the prices shown on the web site will reflect this module. The other modules will be available at checkout if you would like to upgrade to a longer range. These ranges are based on a clear line of sight between MirC controllers/antennas, meaning obstacles such as trees, buildings and walls may limit these ranges slightly.

Relay Status

Wired Mir-X devices feature SPDT & SPST and Solid State relays in four different amperage options and are available with the same number of contact closure inputs as there are relays installed on the device.  Contact Closure Inputs may only be connected to switches, buttons, or sensors with Contact Closure capability.  Not suitable for use in voltage detection applications.

Who's Qualified to Use the Mir-X Series?

Anyone. The Mir-X Series Controllers are the most consumer friendly devices we offer. Weather you are an electronics engineer or home hobbyist, anyone is qualified to use the Mir-X Series controller.

Relay Status

Each device is also equipped with LEDs that display the status of the remote relay. Status information is verified using 2-way communications. If communication is lost between the two devices, the sending device will turn off the LED. Additionally, every MirX controller is equipped with a Busy/Ready LED. If the Busy LED flashes, this indicates the remote device has successfully received and accepted your contact closure status. If the Busy LED does not flash, the remote device is out of range.

Multiple Mir-X Pairs?

Multiple Mir-X Controllers can be used in one locations. One Pair of Mir-X controllers will not interfere with another Mir-X pair as they are isolated through the way they are designed. Mir-X Devices are paired together before shipment and will only communicate to each other, for this reason they will not interfere with other Mir-X controllers.

Contact Closure Inputs

A Mir-X controller has as many inputs as it has Relays. So a pair of 4 relay Mir-X controllers will have 4 relays on each board and 4 inputs on each board which are used for controlling the relays on the opposite Board, the same holds true for 1, 2, and 8 relay versions.

Relay Outputs

Mir-X Controllers have 1, 2, 4, or 8 Relays integrated into the circuit board. A relay is similar to a switch. The only difference between a switch and a relay is the actual mechanism for changing the on/off status of the switch. On a switch, you manually push on a piece of metal or plastic to operate the switch. On a relay, an electric current is used to operate the switch. Relays do NOT provide a voltage output. They provide a contact closure output, exactly like the terminals found on a light switch at your local hardware store. Wiring to a relay will be slightly different depending on the model of Mir-X controllers you choose.

Please Note: Users must NEVER apply any voltage to an input on the Mir-X controller, these inputs are for Contact Closure connections only.

Attention: Relays Provide No Voltage Output

Please Note: Relays do NOT provide a voltage output. They provide a contact closure output, exactly like the terminals found on a light switch at your local hardware store. Wiring to a relay will be slightly different depending on the model controller you choose.
