SENA Bluetooth modules are installed in all Bluetooth Boards. They offer excellent communication range, speed, and reliability with minimal integration time. Simply pair our Bluetooth controller with your laptop, PDA, desktop, or other system, and you will be talking to the device as though it were directly connected to the RS-232 port of your computer (supports 115.2K Baud operation).....with NO DRIVERS REQUIRED!It works like this
Power up our controller. Boot up your laptop or PDA. Use your Bluetooth software built into your computer to Pair this device with your computer. Once Paired, this device will mount as a COM port on your PDA or Laptop. Now all you have to do is write a simple program to open the COM port of your computer to talk to this device.Bluetooth Communications
Bluetooth is an ideal wireless platform for communicating large amounts of data within a short range. Bluetooth is great for applications where a computer is not too far away from a device, but you just don't want to bother with connecting wires. It's found its home in all kinds of peripheral devices and now has found a new home in embedded control applications. Bluetooth, as it pertains to the NCD product line, is the easiest of all wireless technologies to implement. It is only easier than ZigBee because it has NO drivers (our ZigBee modems use a USB driver). However, to be technically correct, the driver is already on your computer, as it is part of the Bluetooth protocol. Like all NCD devices, once the drivers are installed, you are ready to talk to the device as though it were directly connected to the COM port of your computer. Our Scan Series is ideal for reading motion detectors, glass breakage detectors, window/door open detectors, light switches, and other kinds of devices with a contact closure output. Contact Closure Input is a vital part of just about any control system. Our Scan Series Boards allow you to read 16, 32, or 48 switches per Board and can be expanded using our ScanSwitch Series UXP Expansion Boards (see below). Multiple ScanSwitch expansion modules are easily chained together to read up to 256 Contact Closure Inputs per board.Contact Closure Relay

To monitor a contact closure, simply connect the Scan Series controller to your computer. The controller will mount as a COM port. Open the COM port. Next, you will send a couple of bytes of data to the Scan series controller, requesting input detection. The Controller will report back a value from 0-255, indicating the current status of the inputs on a selected bank in binary form.What is ProXR?
ProXR refers to a set of standardized commands used for computer control and data collection. A controller that supports the ProXR command set is a controller that is built to control up to 256 relays, using commands that can be sent to any controller that offers ProXR compatibility. This allows software developers to create programs for our products, then upgrade or change connectivity options without having to rewrite their software. ProXR commands can be sent to our controllers via the RS-232 serial port, the USB port, Bluetooth, Fiber Optic, Wireless ZigBee/Mesh, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi 802.11b...all without rewriting your software....simply develop your programs to work with the serial port of your computer. Building a solid foundation for future hardware is what ProXR is all about. We have worked hard to modularize the ProXR firmware in such a way that it can support growth of features without sacrificing backward compatibility. Most controllers produced from 2007 onward will support our ProXR command set. These controllers will also include a XR Expansion Port, allowing you to add relays to any controller you choose. So if your needs for computer control increase, our controllers will be ready for your growth.
With all the control and backward/forward compatibility you have come to expect from the ProXR series command set, this controller allow you to send simple commands to activate relays, read the status of relays, activate up to 16 relay timers, and control up to 256 total relays using the XR expansion port. All relays are electronically latched, simply send a command to turn the relay on, send a different command to turn the relay off.
NCD Component Library
Fully functioning programs for Scan Series and motion detectors are included with the NCD Component Library. With the NCD Component Library we've "started" the programming for you. We say started because these are fully functioning samples but we've also included the source code so you can customize them to your exact needs. The NCD Component Library is a plug-in for the Visual Studio 2005/2008 that greatly simplifies the communications to the NCD product line. The samples can be run in Visual Studio and fully customizable to your needs. Start by downloading the FREE NCD Component Library from the NCD Component Library Page and you will be communicating with any NCD device faster that ever!
