| The ABTPRO ASCII Keypad Encoder attaches to the back of a commercially available 16-Key Keypad and converts key presses into ASCII character codes. The ABTPRO spontaneously transmits an ASCII character code each time a key is pressed. The keypad encoder debounces each key-press in software and waits for the user to release the key before scanning and encoding the next key. The ASCII character code output range is user-programmable. By default, the ABTPRO sends ASCII character codes 0-15. However, it is possible to configure the ABTPRO to send any consecutive output range from 0-255.
The ABTPRO is compatible with any matrix style keypad with 4x1, 4x2, 4x3, or 4x4 key configurations. Data output is a single byte transmission per key press. Hold and Repeat is not not supported. Combinational key presses are not supported.
