Analog to Digital Conversion
Our Analog to Digital Converters are available with
8-Bit and 10-Bit resolutions standard, 12-Bit resolutions are achievable with some ADC control devices. 16, 32, and 48 channel devices offer Analog to Digital Converters with high speed A/D conversion and minimal programming. A wide variety of computer interfaces are available in your choice of wireless, USB and RS232. If you are new to A/D Conversion learn to use A/D with NCD devices with our
exclusive article. For more detailed information, video, manuals and to order, please click on the links below.

Ideal for Monitoring Voltages
While Analog to Digital Converters are ideal for monitoring voltages in the range of 0 to 5 volts DC. Our current product line is widely used for Temperature monitoring, Light Level monitoring, with minimal integration time. Analog to Digital conversion is the process of converting a voltage to a number. The higher the voltage (not exceeding 5VDC), the higher the number. 8-Bit Analog to Digital Converters offers numeric values from 0-255. 10-Bit ADC offers numeric values from 0 to 1023. 12-Bit A/D offers numeric values from 0-4093. Simply query the controller to ask it the voltage on the A/D input. Up to 48 analog inputs are supported on some controllers.
Analog to Digital Relay Boards
We have an extensive selection of relay boards that have eight channel 8/10-Bit
Analog to Digital Conversion built into the board, look for AD in the part number. All Relay Boards that offer Analog to Digital Conversion feature the
ProXR Command Set and an
XR Expansion Port, simply look for PROXR in the part number. Built from the ground up with expansion in mind, simply chain the
XR Expansion Modules to the XR Expansion port, one after another, to meet your computer controlled switching requirements to add up to 256 relays. All are of course
SignalSwitch compatible.
Add A to D to Any UXP Board
Add Analog to Digital Conversion to any NCD ProXR controller with a UXP Port (look for UXP in the part number) using the
UAD1216 Expansion Module! The UAD1216 is an 8-Bit/12-Bit 16-Channel Analog to Digital Converter Expansion Module designed to attach to any
NCD ProXR controller with a
UXP expansion port. That's right, turn your existing controller into an analog to digital converter!
Visit our UAD1216 page for more details.
NCD Component Library
Fully functioning Analog to Digital Conversion programs are included with the NCD Component Library. With the NCD Component Library we've "started" the programming for you. We say started because these are fully functioning samples but we've also included the source code so you can customize them to your exact needs. The NCD Component Library is a plug-in for the Visual Studio 2005/2008 that greatly simplifies the communications to the NCD product line. The samples can be run in Visual Studio and fully customizable to your needs. Eight different A/D samples are available including an AD Temperature Converter, to view screen shots of each sample visit our
NCD Component Library Page. Start by downloading the FREE NCD Component Library and you will be communicating with any NCD device faster that ever!
The above screen shots show two of the eight available fully functioning A/D samples that are available with the NCD Component Library. View all the examples on our NCD Component Library Page.

NCD Engineers are currently finalizing the development of a completely new generation relay controller. The Reactor Relay Series controllers represent the worlds first relay controller capable of making its own intelligent decisions based on user input. Unlike previous generations, the Reactor Relay Series controllers are configured using our custom Reactor Configuration Utility. Once configured, the controller works without a computer connected, allowing analog inputs to trigger relays according to the configuration.
The Reactor Relay was developed to address the needs of customers who need a controller capable of making intelligent decisions without a computer. Live Reactor Relays are configured wirelessly. Once configured, the Reactor will work on its own. At any time, a remote computer may read analog inputs and take control of the relays. The remote computer can later return control back to the Reactor logic.
8 Channel Reactor Relay with Break-Away Tabs
Up to 8 timers and 4 rotations can be configured to control up to 8 relays based on 8 separate analog inputs. Programmable Trigger Points can Trigger Timers and Rotation Counters when Analog inputs reach preconfigured levels.
Users may load and save reactor settings into individual files.
The new Reactor Relay Series features our new surface mount LED lights. These lights are smaller and brighter than previous generation lights for making relay status easier to read at a glance. The Reactor Relays will also feature a new board design with Break-Away Tabs. With the Tabs on, the board will fit into an enclosure. If your project requires a smaller profile without an enclosure, simply snap off the tabs on each side for a smaller board.
Interfaces will include USB, ZigBee Wireless, XSC Long Range Wireless and ZB Mesh Networking. All interfaces will be available in 1Channel, 2 Channel, 4 Channel and 8 channel relays.
8 Channel Reactor Relay with Tabs Broken Out
Over 100 sample files will be included that demonstrate the following features and many more:
Temperature Activated Relay
Light Activated Relay
Motion Activated Relay
Programmable Time Delay Relay
Motion Activate Sequence of Driveway Lights
Programmable Watchdog Timer Relay
Relay Background Flashing
Input Triggers Complex Relay Timing Sequence
Using Multiple Rotations
Push Button On/Off Relay Control
Push Button Triggers Flashing Relay
Push Button Triggers/Cancels Relay Timer Sequence
8-Way Light Switch (8 Light Switches Control 1 Relay)
More than 100 Example Configuration Files to be Included!
We have completed the testing phase on our new line of keychain size Key Fob Relay Control. Users will be able to control relays with the touch of a button you hold in your hand! Touch a button and a command to will be sent to a Reactor Relay Series board that has a key fob chip installed to activate a relay. The Key Fob Relay will be compatible with relays with up to 8 channels. Each Key Fob button can be programmed to control up to 8 relays in any number of ways. The Key Fob Relay will also be able to provide a manual override to the Reactor Series Relay Boards. We expect these to be available in January 2010.
Key Fob Relay Applications Include
Garage Door Opening/Closing
Override Existing Programming
Lighting Applications
Pump Activation
Anywhere You Need Quick On-Location Switching
Put the Power of Computer Controlled Switching in Your Hand
When used in conjunction with our Reactor Relay Series onboard timers, a relay can be activated by the Key Fob to turn on, such as opening a garage door. The timer can then be set to automatically switch the relay again. With the example of the garage door, the door would then automatically shut after a predetermined time. This is just one simple example of the many uses that you can customize to meet your specific switching needs.
